I bought this pen so that I could quit my horrible habit of Bogarting the pens of my co-workers. So far, it's worked great. I often need to write on a vertical surface (signs, walls, calenders, etc.) and the space pen has been up to the task, right away, every time. Whenever some other pen fails to write on receipt paper or has been left sitting at an awkward angle and just won't start, this is the pen I reach for, and I've never been disappointed.
I keep it clipped to my store keys with the included D ring, so it's always ready and easily accessible, and the cap mechanism is sturdy and so far quite reliable. The body of the pen is solid, and I find myself resting my hand on it instead of my hip when standing. I can remove the pen from its cap with one hand without difficulty, but I have never had the pen come loose on its own.
Line quality is comparable to a standard ballpoint. This is a practical tool, not a luxury art supply.
I only have a couple of criticisms of this pen:
It is a bit short. I'd prefer a longer (standard length) barrel; this one doesn't quite reach the whole length of my hand, and the balance of a shorter pen is strange. Even if the ink cartridge didn't fill the length of the pen, that would be fine. I just want more handle to hold.
If fisher offered a barrel extender, I'd buy that. Failing that, I'm looking into other pens I can steal parts from to cobble together a Frankenpen.
I do also wish the pen came with blue ink. It's useful to be able to tell a reproduction of a signature from the real thing on a photocopy. The pen takes the PR4 (or SPR4) line of cartridges available on this site, though, so that's one problem I'll solve easily.
This is a good product, and while I initially wondered if I was making a wise investment in a $30 pen, the time and aggravation I've already saved have made me a very satisfied customer.

After receiving this pen for Christmas, it is a must because i have lost all my other Fisher pens. It is perfect for work. Hang it around my neck and always have a pen. To change the ink, you have to twist it hard. But it is built tough. Look forward to many years of use.

I ordered one of these pens on July 2nd, with engraving and standard shipping. It arrived July 3rd. To me, that is simply amazing. I've only had it a day so far, but it seems really well built. As for it's size, I haven't found it to be a problem, but some might. It is roughly the size of a golf pencil (like a standard wood pencil that has been cut in half). It uses a standard 'full size' space pen refill, so finding refills isn't a problem. The rubber grip is comfortable, and the cap really seems to 'lock on'. I haven't yet figured out how to change the ink cartridge, as it did not come with instructions. I am sure it is as simple as some part twisting off, I just need to find which part that is without breaking it. I have had other key chain pens in the past, and none have matched this for initial quality. Over all, this pen is an awesome solution for those of us who always want to have one at hand, no matter what. I always have my keys, so I always have my pen. With this pen, I know that it will always write without bleeding or leaking. I would definately recommend it.
